Spring Symbols and Insights at the End of March

Updated: Jul 17, 2022

The first month of spring is almost gone. Days are getting longer, trees are blossoming, and the birds' singing can be heard more often.

For me, this year's spring feels like coming from a long journey. As every start needs high vibes, I have decided to include two of them in my post today: purity and love. They go hand in hand with spring.

According to an old tradition coming from the Romanians' ancestors, the ancient Dacians, a thin and small red-and-white twisted thread needs to be tied to a branch of a blossomed tree at the very beginning of spring. This is believed to bring protection, good health and abundance and love for the entire year. The colour white symbolises purity, while red symbolises love. They also symbolise the end and new start, the male and female energies.

Interestingly, many blossomed trees are pink, which is the exact combination of these two colours.

As this is meant to be done at the very beginning of spring, I did it on the 1st of March. However, I have only managed to share it with you here today. Getting caught with lots of things to do, this past year has brought me closer to my native traditions, maybe more than I have thought.

How does spring feel and what does it mean to you?
