The Adventure of Transcribing And Performing A Piece

Updated: Jan 26, 2022

London. Rainy night, Christmas period. Vibrant atmosphere, noise, people coming and going on the streets. Everybody seems to look for something: presents, friends, family, holidays, trips…..whatever.

Everybody seems to be in a festive mood.

Well, almost everybody.

Somewhere, in a house there is a light that can be seen through a window. Although it is late, a musician is working on her computer, and setting her intentions for the new year to come. She has been looking for various music scores to complete her repertoire and include them in her concert programmes. Some of them could not be found.

‘What should I do? Play something else? What about the story of the pieces? Not every piece can match the story I have in mind…..’ These are just a few of her thoughts running through her mind.

Christmas? Has anyone said anything about Christmas?

She is already thinking about the spring, and she is also missing home to a degree.

‘What if I do my own transcriptions of those pieces I could not find?’ she asks herself as if talking to somebody.

The answer comes straight away: ‘Go for it. See what happens.’

That is how this transcription has been ’born’. You have for sure guessed who the character is. :)
